Drew Commesso, Chicago Blackhawks goaltending prospect, joins Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Championship. The young goaltender last played for Team USA in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Players to Watch: IceHogs vs Griffins (1/18/23)
After a 4-game road trip that saw the IceHogs going 1-2-1-0, the Piggies are back in their home barn tonight to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins. The IceHogs are currently riding a 4-game win streak on home ice - so, perhaps this will shift their recent puck luck back into the positive category. Rockford is also 3-0-0-0 against Grand Rapids so far this season. Let’s hope they keep up those winning ways!

Wednesday morning gifted Blackhawks world with some wonderful news. Isaak Phillips signed his Entry Level Contract (ELC). It’s a 3-year deal that kicks in for the 2021-22 season and runs through 2023-24.
Chicago Blackhawks Prospects in Frozen Four Tournament
The NCAA Frozen Four Tournament kicked off this afternoon. The Chicago Blackhawks had 5 prospects in the first round. Landon Slaggert would have made it 6, but Notre Dame had to withdraw due to COVID protocols. Josh Ess, Wyatt Kaiser, Drew Commesso, Alex Vlasic, and Jake Wise are the five others.

They hoped to do the same again on Sunday. They did. A 4-3 victory over the Iowa Wild gave the IceHogs their third win of the season.

The first was Saturday evening. The IceHogs looked to get their second win of the season. They got it. 3-2 was the final score, and we all get to rest easy.

The month of February was not very kind to the Rockford IceHogs. They left the first month of the 2020-21 season with a record of 1-6-1-0. While there were positives in Blackhawks rookies picking up their first professional goals and assists, the IceHogs are hoping for a better March.
